Help with painting

By rolltidealabama, 4 January, 2010
Description

It appears to be Oil on some type of Canvas board (linen it appears from the research i've done) The frame is very nice, with very nice detail to it. A local frame shop could only tell me to reproduce the frame could cost in excess of $800.00 considering the large size of the frame and the detail work involved, also that the frame was most likely custom made for the painting.

I apologize for the lack of information, and thank you in advance for any help you can give me!

Re: Help with painting

Update, if this helps. I received an email from a art historian in England, he refered me to a website (archives.org) He instructed me to do a name search for "Verrico" after opening the archive as it's quite long. The only artist Verrico he could find period, is mentioned in the manuscripts of the Marquess of Ormonde preserved at Kilkenny Castle.
And is quite interesting.

The link is as follows

Once again, thank you for your time!

Re: Help with painting

Could you please take better photographs and update your listing?
Use daylight, no flashlight, and hold the camera parallel to the painting right in the middle of it. That way you would avoid angle distortions.
I am not sure if the painting is blue, red or blue with red accents.
Thank you.
