Lane cedar chest

Description

Lane cedar chest, model number 2043, serial number 443140, my Mother says it was
purchased in 1937. Mark on inside says Altavista, VA. Has original tags. Has a bag with a lock and key inside of it. Has a Victory catch. Minor scratches on top and minor damage to front near base.

Based on your images it looks like a late 30's example. We've hundreds poster here, values for them is mainly sentimental, most sell for under $150.00 at auction.

You may contact them for a free http://www.lanefurniture.com/CustomerService/Lock-Replacement.aspx replacement lock, if yours is within the years of the recall.
And, if yours is pre-40's it is more than the newer, which are usually only around $200.... http://www.ehow.com/how-does_4794032_determining-value-lane-cedar-chest… can date it thru the company, too.

, serial number 443140 This erial number indicates that the chest was made April 13, 1944 you reverse the numbers to get the date according to the lane company. Anything made prior to 1940 has an increase in value, I have seen these on ebay auction for $99- 200 Hope this helps.
