Description
This set was given to me by an elderly friend we helped take care of when I was in High school. As far as I know, the family home was built in the late 1850's. I don't know when the furniture was aquired by his family. My friend still lived in the family's original home the way it was when it was built.
Re: Charles Eastlake bedroom set
Your suite is walnut and is in the Eastlake style popular from the 1870's through the 1890's. The earlier examples such as yours tend to be made of walnut, the later examples in oak. Value-wise, well the market for most Victorian Furniture is in the dumpster at the moment, comparable examples to yours sell at auction for less then $1000.00.
Re: Charles Eastlake bedroom set
You have a great set there. The only info I can add is that it looks like the dresser has white ceramic castors. These were hot in the 1860's. This was the introduction years of Mr Eastlakes style and so this would date you pieces to the 1860's.Nice to have the original brass hardware! The big problem with these sets is that they require custom matress sets if in the larger , standard 3/4 size. Your bed appears to be a single?.Gary
