Description

Author: J.K. Rowling
Publisher: Scholastic Press
Publish date: July 8, 2000
First Edition Size: 3.2 million
ISBN: 0-439-13959-7
Mary GrandPre illustrated the dustwrapper (dustjacket)
The determining factor for a First Edition (first printing) is the number line. This title does indeed have "Year 4" embossed on the book and the dustwrapper spine. This book was the winner of the 2001 Hugo Award for Best Science Fiction Novel of the Year for 2000. This is also the first title in the series to released simultaneously with the U.K. edition.

Re: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (U.S.) first ...

I don't believe that this is worth anything more than what someone is willing to pay based on the cover price. There were so many made that currently it's not a collectible and thus worth anything beyond an ordinary book. Hold on to it though because in 50+ years it may have some collectible value, and it's a great read or a nice present to give to a grandchild.

Hmmm...the collector group here seems to think grabbing up any 1st edition HP is a good thing. http://www.instappraisal.com/content/collecting-harry-potter-memorabilia so, guess I didn't do too bad for my buck(: Think a $10 minimum opening bid on Ebay would probably be okay & see where it goes. Thanks for your imput, Charley.

Wow...glad I didn't stop researching...this 1st ed/1st printing is going for around $300, so it is very collectible & demand is rising.

Re: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (U.S.) first ...

Hah...think I've lost my mind, but I just bought a hardback ISBN: 0 439 78454 0 HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE, today...a 1ST AMERICAN EDITION. I paid $4 for this one. Whew...I have a bad collecting habit. It is in good shape, not quite as nice as the Goblet. Maybe, I'll find all 7?
