Hawkeye by Burlington, Burlington Basket Company, Burlington Iowa

By laurendegenaro, 23 January, 2010
Description

This is a footstool sized sewing box. It's made out of wood with Art Deco style dark wood legs and gold plating at the bottom of the legs (or maybe gold paint?). It has a foam padded top and the outside upholstery is made of a imprinted green vinyl. The lid opens and the lid is lined with tan satin which has two pockets sewn into the interior. Also the inside is open with a small 5 inch shelf. The inside is painted a green shade slightly darker than the outside color. There is a plastic gold trim around the top and bottom, and the two handles are in great condition - except the left is kind of loose, and just needs to be tightened. The hinge that holds the lid up is slightly bent and scrapes against the wood on the inside and has pulled off some of the paint, also making it harder to lift, but it's not really that bad. It's in really great condition, and I absolutely love it!

I live in alabama, and found the same basket but in the gold color. it has gold inside, with the shelf in the same color. i was happy to see this basket on the site here. It is in good condition, i purchased it at a community care center for $2.00. i am originally from Iowa so was so excited to find the item.  deb in alabama

Re: Hawkeye by Burlington, Burlington Basket Company, ...

I got mine from this young woman I've known since she was born...I walked in her moms house and immediately spotted it...I asked her for it, surprizingly she gave it to me....It was her Great Grandmothers...Atleast now I know it will be taken care of....I LOVE IT!!! Penny in Texas
