Description
I found this lying in the back of a thrift store that I visited today. It looks to me to be doll outfit handmade out of some type couse fiber or animal hair. I think it might be horse hair. Around the neckline or opening at the top may be leather strips. The top looks to me like a poncho and the bottom is like a long skirt. The poncho does open in the front and both pieces are held together with a horse hair stitch. There is a small fiber loop at the top maybe so you could hang this up. Thats about it except I added some pictures. I have been dealing with old stuff for years and this sight looks like it is going to be a blessing.
Re: Woven horse hair native American or south American Doll ...
it looks amazing... I tried to find similar, ut no luck. Could be jute or hemp. Can't deny it was a lot of work! Here is a starting place for your research....

Yeah...it's hard to find out what something is until you know what it is, if that makes sence. I run across a lot of strange items and most times can search them out but with folfart or one off hand made items its hard some times. I will try the jute (which is a new word to me) and hemp angle. Thanks, Dirk.

I do understand...dad left me a ton of stuff & I am going nuts trying to find their values, etc. You are welcome. And, if you think it is hair...it could be alpaca or llama instead of horse.
