Description
A couple years ago, I had a very lucky day shopping at a thrift store and bought this item for very little. Since then, I've done some research online, and have a few people interested in buying it. I know the Martele' line is very collectible and was wondering if anyone has an idea what something like this roughly sells for. There are no monograms, and I'm no silver expert or photographer but it looks to be in pretty good condition. It is a very beautiful piece of silver, and would like to sell if for the right price.
Re: Gorham Martele' Fish Server
First one would need to know if it's silverplated or sterling silver. If it's Sterling it will be marked Sterling or "925" ( sterling is 925/1000ths pure silver).

Re: Gorham Martele' Fish Server
Hi, from what I've read about Gorham Martele', it was made with .9584 silver and it has this mark.
Re: Gorham Martele' Fish Server
.9584 was the silver content for Martele beginning 1905. that is purer than sterling .925 Higher silver content is softer for designing. A good number of serving pieces were made in Martele. Yours appears to look hammered in picture of bottom, of piece which exemplifies much martele. Value will depend upon whether piece was over-polished, which tends to wipe out design clarity. Look on Internet for sales of Marsstele flatware. Good luck. Don't "give" it away.
Re: Gorham Martele' Fish Server
SpencerMarks.com has a 1905 .9584 Martele fish serving fork currently for sale on its website for $2,900.
Re: Gorham Martele' Fish Server
Have an offer in mind... but the photos are lacking clarity, I am having to guess at wear and condition, monogram removal etc.... what was the best offer to date? thx S-Rex
