Glastonbury chair

Reproduction Gothic style chairs of this type were first promoted by
Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin. Between 1821 and 1838 Pugin and his father published a series of volumes of architectural drawings, the first two entitled, Specimens of Gothic Architecture, and the following three, Examples of Gothic Architecture. He became an advocate of Gothic architecture, which he believed to be the true Christian form of architecture. The first Repro examples date from the 1840', but were made well into the 1920's. Values vary by how close they imitate the originals, examples like this one often sell for over $250.00 at auction.
