5 piece Reed & Barton Sterling Tea Set

By fbennett01, 14 March, 2010
Description

Reed & Barton Sterling Silver 5 piece Coffee/Tea Set, Francis I, with Silver Plate Tray. Each piece and the Tray are monogramed MKH. The stamp on the bottom says "Sterling 570A Francis I. All five pieces are in excellent shape. The additional matching silver plate tray is worn to the copper on many edges. The Coffee is marked "2.25 Pt" The Tea is marked "2 pt. The sugger is lidded. The other two pieces are a cram and lidded sugar. We inherited this set in 1970 from relatiaves who apparently inherited it as well. They are from Chicago, and the name on one side of the family in Chicago is Kowalski, which could match the monogram.

Re: 5 piece Reed & Barton Sterling Tea Set

nice...if I am seeing right....about $23,000, full retail. http://www.replacements.com/webquote/RDSFRAN2C.htm & Replacements Ltd might be interested in purchasing your set, for much less. The monogram hurts it a wee bit. Of course, try to sell it to a collector, to get top$$.

Re: 5 piece Reed & Barton Sterling Tea Set

I have this same set with no monograms and I am interested in selling it. Any tips to help me get the most for this set. I do not want to give it away.

Re: 5 piece Reed & Barton Sterling Tea Set

Well, how far you from a Sotheby's, Christies, Skinner?
http://artist.christies.com/Reed-Barton-53842.aspx ...wow, right?
Anyway, if too far just contact your local reputable auction house to see about including it in their next specialist auction...NOT general, with a reserve...ask about all fees!!! Google silver collectors, but that is hard since nobody can trust anyone, anymmore. Good luck!

Re: 5 piece Reed & Barton Sterling Tea Set

Can you please take a photo & zoom in on the silver mark. I want to see what year it was made, etc. as this would affect pricing greatly as I have some concerns over the pieces that being able to see the marks would answer.
