Your penny is worth about 3 cents. As a matter of fact most copper wheat pennies are worth about that much in bouillon value. If you have one of the following wheat pennies then that is something to hold on to.
1909 S VDB (A small S mark next to the year and the initials VDB on the bottom of the tails side of the penny) - This penny is the most wanted of the penny collectors but not the most expensive. Currently its worth about $1200 on ebay in good condition.
1914 D (A small D mark next to the year) - This penny goes for about $145 on ebay.
1922 (No mint mark next to the year) - This penny is worth about $850 on ebay.
1931 S (Small S Mark next to the year) - This penny is worth about $65 on ebay.
1943 Copper (not the steel ones, the one made of copper) How you can tell if it is copper or not is by a magnet. If it sticks to a magnet it is STEEL. Some of these pennies have been copper plated to disguise that they are actually steel. During the war there was a shortage of copper and this year was minted in steel. The few that did slip through the production line in copper are worth THOUSANDS. They are soooooo rare that if you find one you are a GOD amongst collectors of the wheat penny.
