Susan

By chrisco, 29 June, 2010
Description

This teapot was purchased from a government art/antiques shop in hong kong in 1985 while on holiday. We have seen this item in an old Carters book some ten years ago, it was highly valued. We have been told that the Mark is possibly Qianlong Nian Zhi ? It would be nice to know some history of this Teapot and its markings. If it is of some value we may get it carbon dated and put it up for auction. Kind Regards Susan.

Re: Susan

I have a vase with the same mark underglaze blue...it's appears to be new (a copy). However, your piece is beautiful and it looks authentic not fake. Please send pictures of the teapot to Chrities Auction House in New York...Google Christies online and find one of the Chinese specialists info and sent images and your information about the piece to them online...they will let you know if you have a valuable piece which worth a lot. Your piece look like it was commissioned for the palace court of Emperor Qianlong. They are very rare to found and top of the line provenance.
Sorry for my English...I'm French!
