Description
This fireplace surround is hand carved wood and in mint condition. I was told it's from Europe and was found in an estate somewhere in NJ/NY vicinity. I am unsure of the wood species although I think it may be Cherry. I have used this surround only for decorative purposes and added a removable center piece of black tile to give it a "finished" look. The tile is glued to a masonite board which is delicately tacked onto the surround from behind and has not damaged or marred the surround at all. It is easily removable if unwanted.
Re: Hand Carved Wood Fireplace Surround
It's in the style of Georgian/Federal style mantels originally made during the late 18th to early 19th Century. It looks like walnut in the images, at auction about $300.00- $500.00.
