Swinger 1 Bicycle

By samash09, 19 July, 2010
Description

Hello, my name is Andrew. I was going through an apartment building basement of a house that was abandoned today and found a bike that has "Swinger I" on the plate that goes over the chain and gear. It has a 70 Bendix coaster break. It is a single speed banana seat with long handle bars. Paint is in good condition. I don't know anything other than that. As far as I can tell, it seems to be in pretty good shape with little rust. If you could give me any info you might have, i would really appreciate it.

Thanks, Andrew

Re: Swinger 1 Bicycle

I remember those, my parents wouldn't let me have one, bought me a three speed " English Racer" instead. Seems strange seeing one again now, these date from the late 1960's as I recall and came with a variety of models, some were single speeds, one model was a five speed with a stick shift on the crossbar ( later removed from sale due to problems collisions with important parts of the male anatomy). Here's a link for you:

Re: Swinger 1 Bicycle

Thanks for your response. Before posting this appraisal listing, I emailed the owner of that website but he never answered my question regarding an estimated value of the bike, he would only say that it looked pretty good...

Re: Swinger 1 Bicycle

I would imagine he gets a great deal of email from people looking for free valuations. Most Dealers are swamped with such requests that don't generate any income for them, as many asking for valuations are shopping their items around looking for who will pay them the most ;~) I've seen hi rise bikes of this sort sell anywhere from $50.00- $150.00 at auction.
