Antique School Desk marked American S.F. Co.

Description We are looking to get the value of this desk. Can anyone give us an idea? We know it is 1800 or 1801, and built by American S.F. Co. we believe in NY? That's about all we know. My husband bought this at a yard sale for $5 and refinished it as a weekend project. Just curious about it's value and interested in possibly selling it. Any help and information would be greatly appreciated.

These are late Victorian desks and are a hard item to sell. They were a mass produced item, and they survive in large numbers , so values for them are quite modest. At auction they often sell for under $50.00 http://www.liveauctioneers.com/search?q=cast+iron+school+desk&fq=&sort=relevance&dtype=gallery&hasimage=true&type=complete&rows=100&addfq=sale_date_year%3A%282010%29
