Revolutionary Sword

By luvmybebes, 20 September, 2010
Description

Found this sword in our backyard 2 days ago.  Took to local collector thinking it was Civil War era.  He says that it is possibly from Revolutionary War, but used here during the Seminole War.

Re: Revolutionary Sword

Unfortunately the condition is an issue, as this is not in "good" shape at all. The sword blade looks completely rusted beyond repair. This is what is called "relic" condition, often referring to ground-dug items. I would estimate the sword to be worth around $75-$150.

Re: Revolutionary Sword

I am sorry to say this is not an historic sword.  This is a mass-produced ceremonial Sikh sword from India.  They were quite common in head shops and import bazaar type shops in the 70s and 80s.  My mother bought me this one for 10 dollars at a rummage sale in the mid 1980s.  In the rusty condition yours is in, I am afraid it is worth nothing at all unless you find a collector who thinks it is actually from the Seminole War.
