Porcelain hand painted water pitcher with gold trim

By kipcher, 21 October, 2010
Description

Porcelain hand painted water pitcher.  It is green with hand painted flowers and berries.  There is gold trim around the opening and the spout.  It is round.  There are no markings on the bottom inside or out.

I am just wondering if anyone knows anything about this.  It was my Grandmother's.

Re: Porcelain hand painted water pitcher with gold trim

If there is no marking at all is most likely a hand painted " Blank". China painting was a popular hobby before World War One and porcelain companies would sell undecorated pieces wholesale to studios, who then would decorate them themselves or sell them to hobbyists. Unless there is some provenance it's impossible to determine who painted the piece or where the blank was made. Most pieces like this date 1890-1920.
