Description
This rare sword is from the Qing Dynasty Period of 1644 to 1911, and is definetly connected to the Tao religion, on the ivory hilt there is six stories of the Eight Emmortals, beautifully scrimshawed into the ivory hilt and five incircled crosses on the ivory handle and butt of the handle, which represents the five sacred mountains, this sword is of musem quality.

I am not modest, I am not greedy, but a find like this is like finding the sword in the stone, there is many collector's, dealer's and buyer's of Asian antique's that would pay handsomely, $80.000 in which is 3 to 4 times what I am asking and at that price they would still think they got the deal of the Century. This sword with the Eight Emmortals scrimshawed on the hilt is without doubt connect to the sacred religion of the Tao, In many lands through out the centuries of ancient times, swords have been a symbol of strength, courage, and a protector against evil, and a protector of the holy realm's of many religion's, The Shiolin Monks of the Tao religion through out China and milliniums were masters of the sword.

This is a wonderful & remarkable find of something that has so much history and what this sword represents to the Eight Emmortals of Taoism and to the people of China, yes this is a great find in deed, this sword is one of a kind, I have never before seen scrimshawing so artisticly done with such beauty, with each Emmortal character looking so natural real.
This sword should be seriously researched to determine who would of had such a sword of those times to represent the Eight Emmortals.
Value has no meaning compared to what this sword represents.

Eventually the sword of the Eight Emmortals will find it's way back home across the sea to China, just like their maiden voyage when the eight emmortals traveled across the sea just like the many hundreds of years ago, but this time to be given a permanent resting place, and they say that history does repeat it's self.
I wonder how the holy sword of the Eight Emmortals ever reached the shores of the America's in the first place, hum?
When I first heard this story about this sacred, holy sword, I had to check to see if the story was true for myself, this sword that was not inset with saphires, or emarlds, nor even rubies, or forged from the finest of metals, but yet it holds a King's ransom, but in this case a sword of the Eight Emmortals of the Shiolin of the Tao religion
What this sword holds is more than the wealth of saphire's, emarld's, and rubie's, but the beautiful stories of the Eight Emmortals...

I believe the many stories that I have read and heard over the last few months must be of some truth about the eight emmortals and the story that I am about to tell must be of some truth as well, because every story that I have read and heard has came from every day people like me and you, looking for a purpose, a reason and answer to all of the mysteries of life, the eight emmortals through out time have shared there blessings.

Actually it's not rare at all and is probably Japanese. Comparable swords often sell for under 500.00 at auction

This is to comment on Lovejoys finding's and knowledge.
The difference between this sword being Japenese & Chinese is the scrimshawing on the hilt of the Eight Emmortals of Chinese mythology of the Tao religion in China not Japan.
The Eight Emmortals in China are a legend and very famous in their country, they have everything from comic books to the largest temple in China dedicated to them, the people of China patronize them, worship them, and love them.
In your finding's Lovejoy you would of found this information out and to be true, and further more there is no other sword of this type comparable as you say in your finding's, I would like for you to send me some photo's of your fnding's of other sword's comparable for $500.00. With all due respect, the Immortals and the Taoist religion has been part of Japanese culture since the 5th Century. Japanese decorative Arts is full of depictions of the Immortals. I would suggest that if you really feel your sword is of great value and want to sell it, your questions would be better suited to a company such as Sotheby's or Christie's.
