Re: wade wingfield&rowbotham sharpning steel and fork 1830-1840

These bone/stag handles sets are generally much newer that they appear, most date from the last quarter of the 19th century. The company that made these were in operation into the 20th century. Most sell for under $70.00 at auction.

P.S. There should be a hall mark on the silver band that could verifiy a date.

Re: wade wingfield&rowbotham sharpning steel and fork 1830-1840

I think you are correct as my research shows this name was only used in 1833-1850 and they had the rights to use in the early part 20th century but  have a close look at style and wear this would suggest more 1830-40 era dont you think?, also look at the design pattern of silver ring this pattern was not used in th 20th century your comment is important but incorrect saying its for sure 20th century, and $70 I dont think so I have seen some old steel peaces sell for 200-$400 dollars no fork and not in great condition like mine.cheers
