Contrary to popular belief treadle machines are not rare, virtually any household that could afford a sewing machine had one by the turn of the 19th Century. Singer had produced over 50 million machines by the late 19th century , of which a great many still exist to this day. What you paid is exactly about what these Singers tend sell for these days.
