its hard to tell, with the pic but looks to be pottery ..weights is two pds, you say ..i am only guessing you dont have much to go on..is the number painted on.or indented in the clay..it looks to be japan or some area of that region..remember i am only guessing. hope you find the real answer..

these pieces were pretty generic, they were made right around the turn of the 19th century in Europe, Japan and the USA. The better ones made by any of the big name ( read expensive) makers were well marked . Unmarked examples generally sell for less than $150.00 at auction.
