"Burl" tables of this type tend to be Designer pieces or limited production items and therefore are difficult to value if they are unmarked. It might be an idea to find out more from your father in law about his boss.

Burl tables are made out of sections of a tree that has harbored some disease that causes a wide grain pattern, or a section cut close to the stump of the tree where the roots intersect with the trunk. Here's a link to Burl Tables at auction for you to get an idea of value:
