This is a WWI era Scovill Model 1907M Fuze. I picked it up from a guns salesman at a convention. I paid $20 for it. It has been fired because the rings for the mechanical time adjustment have been slightly squished as if it had hit the ground but did not detonate.It appears to me made of brass and a separate type of metal on the base. The bottom has rusted a bit but the brass shines up. This is how i can read the lot number and model number. The lot number is 2289-21. Another unknown identifier is P8289-18.

Around $25, just about what you paid for it. WW1 stuff is very affordable currently, unlike WW2 or Civil War US Army irtems. Nice find!

I have one just like this but I can not tell if the fuse is still in it or not. The bottom has no rust at all. The same as yours, looks like it hit the ground and did not fire. Mine is a model 1907 M. Can you advise me if you know anyone who can tell me if the fuse is still in it and if they can remove the fuse safely or not? [email protected]

I believe a WW1 artillary shell would be worth than $25 because they are more rare than WW2 stuff. I looked on EBay and 99 percent of the items were WW2. One like the one I have is not listed.
