Typewriter desk

By Janie, 5 September, 2011
Description

Really beautiful pieceof furniture I really love. It was a gift from my husband. I don't know a whole lot about it. One person said it was from the 30's or 40's but he was not an antiquw appraiser. It looks like someone sanded the inside of 4 of the si drawers. I think someone intended to refinish it and I am SO glad they didn't. The outside of the desk is untouched and all I did was clean it up and polish it it. It has what I think is the original chair with it.

Re: Typewriter desk

the drawers were sanded likely because they were damaged, common causes are mold or spilled ink. Does not effect the value at all. Unfortunately, these are very common and are left over in huge #'s from the typewriter ara. After all, this was "cheap office furniture" of the day. Will retail for around $200 MAX to the right client.

Re: Typewriter desk

Thanks! I really love it and it goes withall my other dark wood furniture. I didn't think it was worth a whole lot but it's so unique. I had never seen one before and it's nice to have one like it. I use it and it's so pretty. Thanks for your reply.

Re: Typewriter desk

As has already been said , these desks are commercila items made in the millions. In the rough at auction they often sell for less than $50.00
