need information and value of old, matching sofa and love seat possibly walnut frame scroll legs & arms burnt orange velvet or velvet like material

By veganmomof2, 2 September, 2011
Description

The sofa has 4 legs in front & 2 legs in back, the love seat has 3 legs in front and 2 inback. both are matching with a wood frame that appears to be walnut, the arms and front legs have a scroll on them slightly ornate. each is upholstered in burnt orange velvet or velvet like fabric, there are springs beneith the cushions. i was told that they may have been re-upholstered in the 1940's but i have no way of knowing if there is any truth in that statement. i tried to have them cleaned and the gentlemen said they were very old and refused to clean them.

Re: need information and value of old, matching sofa and ...

This set really isn't that old, it's in the French provincial style which has been in and out fashion about every 30 years since the mid 1700's. The last periods of popularity were the 1930's and 1960's. The cost of reupholstering this set would cost far more than the value of one in good condition.
