Beautiful 6 Foot Tall Vintage Oil Painting

By rsource2, 11 October, 2011
Description

The painting is 6 feet tall and mounted on a wooden frame that resembles an old screen door. The brackets that hold the wood together on the back have a patend date of 1853. The oil painting is on a heavy grained canvas material unlike the painting canvases of today. The detail of the painting is absolutely amazing. The face and hands are flawless. There was a well done repair in the middle of the cumberbun to fix a hole.

Re: Beautiful 6 Foot Tall Vintage Oil Painting

Very odd looking texture to the canvas, that said nobaody can appraise paintings from images. Original art really requires a physical appraisal by a Fine Arts Appraiser. I'd suggest contacting a local auctioneer for a referral to who ever they use to appraise art to give you an opinion.
