pair of solid wood gothic chairs

Profile picture for user brianandwendy

Description

We have a pair of chairs made of solid wood. They are very heavy. The pointed arched backs and carved quatrefoils lead us to believe that they are gothic. They also have an emblem on the back that looks like a Pope's hat, cross, and staff. We have seen chairs similar to these online, but none with the emblem. There is a corner piece and the cross missing. We're sure they have some value but how much?...and where did they come from?

Re: pair of solid wood gothic chairs

These chairs are in the Gothic revival style and most likely came out of a church or a Fraternal Order/Men's Lodge hall. They are generally hard to sell because the style and size of them really does not fit with most peoples homes, still , even at auction I've seen them sell for over $150.00 a piece.
