Oil painting on canves with a signature of E.CARLSEN size inside frame 49L"x39"t

By boo1068, 6 December, 2011
Description

This is a beautiful oil painting on canvas. However I don't know where this scenery is.Signature is in the lower right corner all in caps but fancy E.CARLSEN.At the top of the N is a long slash mark going straight across.I'v done research on E.CARLSEN & I know just about everything on him.Just not of the painting still.I'm not sure if it's him,or another artist w/the same name,a copy,or a no name painter.I'v gone to a few art gallerys & they know nothing.Upon my research,I went to Amsterdam,& Neitherlands, eventualy AIC.A gallery in Las Vegas,NV said the signature looks lagit, but couldn't tell me anything of the picture because it's not his specalty, but to keep looking. In the back of the pic is large high Mnts w/snow on most of them & as you come down off the big mnt,the smaller mnts has a little less snow w/I think evergreen trees & a small waterfall in middle going down to a river, stream,or a cove in a valley.Along the water banks is more evergreens & bushes that are greener,& a few trees/bushes w/leaves that I'm not sure about. They are painted a pinkish white. Also along the stream bank on boths sides you can see either dirt or rock.Awsome pic.On the back side of pic I couldn't find any other markings on the canvas or the canvas stretched over the wooden frame.Or even the picture frame on the front. Is there an estimated value of this beautiful picture? Can you help me w/any information you can find for me?BTW...the picture is not for sale.I thank you in advance for your help in this matter.
I know BTW that the picture has slightly yellowed due to previous owners. It was hung in a bright lighted area.We have it now in a hall that isn't exposed to bright lighting. But everyone can still see it.

I also have a painting  of  Catus in the Desert 48" W x 36" H signed by E. Carlsen with a long streight line at the top of the N. Who did this painting and is it worth anything?

Re: Oil painting on canves with a signature of E.CARLSEN size...

I am also very interested in this artist.  I have a large canvas that is also signed E Carlson.  It looks as tyhough it may be the same signature.  I have been trying to locate information on this artist and approximate values for his work.  I acquired my painting at an auction and no information was provided on the artist.  The canvas measures 50 inches by 40 inches inside that frame.  It is an image of a sail boat on the water an is mostly in paster colors (oil).  The paint appears to have been applied with a spatula.  I will attempt to take a photo of the entire image and the signature and post them.
