I bought this china at auction in Rochester, NY. No one there seemed to know where it came from. I used it quite often for holiday dinners as my ex-husband's family is fairly large.
It's not a complete set -- for example, there are no saucers for the cups. I found some plain white china that matched the background color of the pieces and that worked quite well. Another suggestion for a more informal setting would be to match some of the orchid colors.
As you can see in the picture section, two marks are listed. Mark 'A' is the mark most used. The dinner plates have 8 plates with mark 'A' and 1 with mark 'B'.
The china feels thin and fragile but I put the dishes in the dishwasher and had no problem. This china was made to last. I don't have any reason to use it now.
Items in the set:
Dinner plate 10" -- 9 items
Luncheon Plate 8.5 -- 9 items
Salad plate 7.5" -- 10 items
Individual butter plates 3" -- 11 items
Rimmed Soup Bowl 8" -- 8 items
Fruit/Dessert Bowl 5.75 -- 7 items
Cup (no saucers) 3" -- 7 items
Serving Bowl 10.75" by 7.5" -- 1 item
Serving Bowl 10" by 5.5" -- 1 item
Large bowl with cover (soup tureen?) 9.5" by 7" -- 2 items
Oval Platter 13" -- 1 item
Re: ROSENTHAL/CONTINENTL Pattern: R1163
I was wondering if this china had been appraised. I don't see anything in the comments about a value, etc. This process is new to me so I may be looking in the wrong place. etc. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
