Doulton Burslem Large Wash Basin Set

By roniwitko, 1 July, 2012
Description

I would like to know what the piece inside the wash basin is, my sister was told it was to place wash clothes in.  Would also like to the value of this set and any other information.  The wash basin and the pitcher both have marks, but they are slightly different - maybe pieces made in 1891?  Thank you!

Re: Doulton Burslem Large Wash Basin Set

It is a s kathybeth has said, from the slop bucket, it's where the used water ( and other things) drained through after use in the basin. Most set originally came with one, because they were the piece most often moved, carried from room to room and dumped, they were the piece most often broken first and discarded.
