Vilas Solid Maple Hutch Buffet

By RNCatch, 20 July, 2012
Description

I'm not sure but I think as far as I can tell it's "Cherrywood" but it could be "Rock Maple" It's fairly heavy, I'm guessing 170-200 lbs at the least. There's not  really any scratches, a couple tiny dents and nicks that aren't really visable until you're about a foot away from it. One of the door hindges is slightly bent giving the door a little more push to close. All drawers are in excellent condition, two with a felt like peice of cardboard which can be removed. The top of the hutch has taken the most scratches but not noticable unless you're over 6 feet tall, could probably be very easily fixed if wanted. The backing is still in good shape.

Re: Vilas Solid Maple Hutch Buffet

Vilas is a well known Canadian maker, most of their production for Colonial style furniture of this type is rock maple. From what I remember they brought out this style in the 1950's and it remained in production for a great many years, it's well made stuff and lasts just about forever. It's not in huge demand currently, we sell pieces like this for under $1000.00.
