Hand carved folk art chairs???

Description

Greetings,

I have a pair of chairs that I believe are Swiss or Bavarian.
I have had them for 20 years.
I would greatly appreciate an opinion on them, if you don't mind.
I have attached some photos.

1 has smiling faces, the other frowning faces.
The spindles on the 2 chairs rotate opposite, in synch with the opposite facial expressions.

Any information that could guide me would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Just to clarify, I purchased them about 20 years ago at an Antique store.

I have not found any identifing markings on them.

I am interested in selling them.

Thanks again,

Rob

These are what's called "Hall Chairs" because they werr generally used in front halls of large Victroian homes. Examples like this are Continental, generally Swiss or German, we retail a pair like this for about $500.00.
