Description

Need an appraisal for this antique wild cherry wood china cabinet. It is stamped with wild cherry wood inside the drawer of the cabinet. I acquired this china cabinet when I bought my house 23 years ago. It belonged to the owners of the house prior to me who were very elderly and passed away before we bought the house and moved in..it has a piece to the left front that came dislodged but could easily be put back on..there is a piece of the glass missing but one full piece will fit to the back of the door..minor wear to the cabinet overall.

Your cabinet is not an antique, it's actually a reproduction which unlikely predates the 1950's at the earliest. It's in the Colonial Revival style which has been popular off and on since the late 19th Century. Values for it depend on how close the design follows the original and it's current condition. We see comparable sell at auction for about $350.00.

How do you know that the cabinet is a reproduction? Just curious...more specific info on the inside drawer is stamped, Bucks County Provincial Solid Cherry..if that makes a difference

For one thing no genuine antique would be stamped in this manner, the construction details also indicate 20th century manufacture. If you look at things such as the drawer bottoms and backs of these cabinets they are nearly always plywood, the screws are all machine made with points and any nails will have round heads. There are many other indicators that people like myself who've been in the business for years can spot from the back of an auction hall.
