Japanese Satsuma Vase

By Andrew Dwyer, 21 August, 2012
Description

Large vase with what I think are Samurai warriors on holding fans. As far as I can tell it is hand painted because you can feel the texture of the paint. There is a signature at the bottom in Japanese writing. I have no idea how old it is. We found it when we were clearing out one of our friends shed.

Re: Japanese Satsuma Vase

the mark and design appears to be Kyoto Satsuma and dates to around 1920.  If it 2 feet tall, that is a very large size for this age vase...If it were in my shop, I would price it around $200-300, but I am concerned about the cracks on the base.

Re: Japanese Satsuma Vase

Thank you very much for the feedback. I think I may end up keeping it as I have found no one that would like to buy it from me.
