Description
This is a 2panel Japanese screen purchased about 20 years ago in Kyoto from a friend who was a 3rd generation screen dealer. It is approx 36x37 inches and is a painting of 2 women in kimonoes playing cards. I was told at the time of purchase that it was about 100 years old. The background is gold leaf and the quality of the painting is high. This is a very special and uncommon image.
Re: 2 panel Japanese screen
is there an artist seal or kanji signature mark on it somewhere....if so, can you post a pciture? It may help to ID the artist and confirm the age.
Re: 2 panel Japanese screen
don't know...I seem to remember that the artist was anon but trust the source as to the age.
Re: 2 panel Japanese screen

If you google Christie's of New york, they can give you a free auction estimate. It does have the appearaance of mid 19th c Jpaanese painting, but I would get an expert to really look at it.
