I picked these lamps up at a flea market. They were hideous! The lamp bases were all dull, they were absolutely covered in dust & cobwebbs and they had blue outdoor christmas lights in them & 1 red. I could tell by just the crystals they were of high quality and at one time, probably quite beautiful. I took them apart, cleaned the bases, washed the beads & crystal pieces in soap and water, re-beaded each lamp & re-hung the crystals. They cleaned up real nice & the transformation was amazing! The pictures do them no justice at all. They are sooo beautiful now. The crystals catch every ray of light & shoots rainbows of color everywhere. When in direct sunlight, they are almost blindingly brilliant and at night when the lamps are on, the light from the bulbs bounce from bead to bead & the crystals light up like 4th of July sparklers. They should be gracing Liberace's piano...!
*Both lamps are 3 arm.
Re: Beautiful Antique Beaded Crystal Table Lamps!
Goes to show what a little cleaning can accomplish. Similar sets of lamps are selling for $100-200 at auction.
Re: Beautiful Antique Beaded Crystal Table Lamps!
I'm sorry Fish, but I think you really blew it on this one..... $200 for both lamps? Similar sets? Hell, I can't find anything anywhere more than vaguely similar. There is over 17 POUNDS of crystals - on EACH lamp. I'm sure you are familiar with the many types of crystals i.e., Vintage, Italian, Rock, Swarovski, Strass & Baccarat to name a few - and the great differences in monetary value depending on the kind of crystal. Even at the lowest end of that spectrum, there is over $600 in crystals alone on EACH lamp. I completely disagree with your suggested appraisal & I think you really missed the mark. You're (2nd) thoughts...?
Re: Beautiful Antique Beaded Crystal Table Lamps!
Sorry but I don't think I'm as far off on value as you believe. Do some research into what things actually sell for and try to bring these lamps to market yourself before being so hasty in thinking they are worth a great deal of money. I may have been a bit under the money, but not by much, certainly not more than $50-100 over the initial high estimate. I have records available for thousands of auctions and am buying and selling on a daily basis, I have a very good idea of what things are actually worth for the most part. With that said, these are just my opinions. This is a free community based site, I'm one of the most active members and doing my best to help people which often feel their junk is worth piles of cash. It is a shame that upon learning their items aren't worth a pile of cash, I get responses like this. If you disagree people, do your own thing. You are capable as doing just as much research as I am. I certainly do not owe it to anyone to put in hours of research in some cases, but I do, quite frankly you should be happy there is anything like this online. There is nothing gained by telling me I'm wrong on value. If you know for a fact you can get more money than I feel would be common for the piece, then get off this site and do it!
I hope someone pays you your thousand dollars, but any educated buyer in today's market isn't going to do that. I could buy 5 pairs of lamps by next week for $150-250 each.... why should someone pay bundles of cash when there ARE better deals out there for similar items all the time?? The prices I gave are again based upon what things have actually sold for... facts, as opposed to speculation fueled by you being bias because they are yours, and they're old. When people are not used to seeing something and they have no prior experierence with the antique market, they almost always overvalue it. The difference in my valuations is I see items like yours all day everyday. They aren't special to me in any way so I'm not jumping at a reason to see dollar signs.
Good luck and hope you have more finds.
Re: Beautiful Antique Beaded Crystal Table Lamps!
Fishwacker, WHOA- now wait just a cotton pickin' minute here... I'm sorry if you misinterpeted the content of my message- or perhaps that you perceived some non-intended negativity. It was just a simple statement saying we had a difference of opinion. It certainally wasn't meant to be purposely insulting or disrespectful to you in any way. But since you felt the need to take it to that level, I guess I should apologize for not noticing your sandles. I was unaware that you are the God of Valuation and that you had this "I'm perfect in every way & couldn't possibly be wrong" thing goin' on, or I wouldn't have even posted the comment. And yes, I can clearly see that you are a prominent member of the site's community- you just know a little bit of something about everything don't 'cha...! If you truely felt that my lamps were "junk," you should have just came out and said so in the first place- no need to sugar-coat things. You also went as far as to call me "hasty" and then accuse me of being "unappreciative." Believe me, I HAVE done plenty of research- and eventhough I may not know their exact value, thats how I know they are worth more then your lowball figure. For the record, I DO appreciate all the feedback, help & suggestions I get from everyone here who is kind enough to respond- especially at no charge. I post here quite often- and you telling me to "get off the site & do my own thing" was just down right rude. In addition, stating that I have no experience in the antique market is, in my opinion- nothing more than just your opinion. What I DO know- is a small drop in a very big bucket. I don't remember saying anything that would have given you the impression I thought the lamps should be on display at the Smithsonian, sitting under glass right next to the Hope Diamond. So calling me biased is like saying everyone who also posts here must be biased. I think rather than biased, we are hopeful. Everyone is hoping that their item is the find of a lifetime, bestowing "piles of cash" upon us and granting us ultimate financial freedom. It's sad and unfortunate that you happen to be one of those people who walks around with a giant pin- popping as many bubbles as possible.
Re: Beautiful Antique Beaded Crystal Table Lamps!
These are called Crystal Girandoles. Maybe it will help you figure out exactly what you have as far as resale value.

Right in the price range I quoted, as are many others. If you make an account through this website you can perform a search for "crystal girandoles" to see what people are actually willing to pay.
Re: Beautiful Antique Beaded Crystal Table Lamps!
I agree with Fishwhacker. Lamps like this are not really antique, very few of them predate the 1920's and are a very hard sell these days. Unless you have an exceptional set they often go at auction for modest values, here is a link:

Re: Beautiful Antique Beaded Crystal Table Lamps!
So all of that being said, these are very pretty and I would like to know what you would be willing to sell them for. Thank you.

Shabby Crystal Chic Prism Table Light Beaded Candelabra Wedding Boudoir Lamps.
I think if you take all that was stated here and cut that down the middle would give you a good price range.
I do not see the top end lamps here and also I don't see the cheap ones either. In the right market you might get the amount you wish, But it's not going to be easy.
SillyFilly, put your price on it. through it out there and see what you get..Good Luck.
Everything is only worth what someone is willing to give you.
