Description
Two Ivory figures from Rangoon Burma. Ivory on a teak base. Base has ivory plate on back stating

15 & 90 Scott Market
Rangoon
These figures were brought back from Burma by my grandparents in 1953. They are 10" tall counting the teak base. 8.5" Ivory part only. They are very heavy and do not feel hollow.
Re: Burmese Ivory Figures
There are several types of ivory, elephant, walrus, and mammoth ivory, then you have carved bone as well. It is impossible to say what you have unless you can take them to a jeweler or Asian expert, to test them or look at the grain under a high resolution microscope. Many items marketted as Ivory, weren't, so its best to rely on the experts. If they are ivory, they are a nice size and at auction would start at $500 each and go up from there depending on the crowd. If bone, far less.
