Description

i have a leather case that is pretty beat up it looks pretty old, it has a silver lock on the front and two silver corner things the only way i can describe them is like a border, they are hallmarked with number 1, a lion, and the other one i cant see very well it is either a shield or a tigers head, the silver is also marked GHJ, inside the case is two sets of playing cards that are in bad condition and there is also some gold writing on the inside of the case that says magasin, janetti, anglais, rome, turin, florence, naples. i was just wondering if anybody could tell me anything about this, thank you.

The maker is George Henry James, who worked in London.  Probably made 1880-1900.  If you search his name you'll see some auction results for other items he made. His large silver pieces have sold at large auction houses for good money, I can't find anything similar to this.
