Found in my flower garden

By faronsmom, 20 March, 2013
Description

I found this in my yard about 5-8 inches deep. I am not sure what it is but it looks old. It has the name Anna Whipple Bartlett engraved on one side with the letter A in unique font. The words From your Godmother on the other side with the F in the same font as the A. It has not other markings. It appears to be silver or something.

Re: Found in my flower garden

Hi, I just wanted to say, this is neat. I would be really excited to find something in my garden with some history. It's very unique and I hope you find out what it is and who it belonged to.
What state do you live in? If you don't mind me asking. If I were you, and I don't get any response to this, I would maybe look into the history on your home or the people that lived near by. Maybe you'll find something by doing that. Good luck!

Re: Found in my flower garden

  • BIRTH: 1 Dec 1801, Harmar, Washington, Ohio
  • DEATH: AFT 1880, prob, Dubuque, Dubuque, Iowa

This is all I found on a Anna Bartlett so if you live in either state maybe you can find out more. For the life of me I can't figure out what it is. At first I thought a napkin holder, but it seems to fancy.

Hope you find out more and if you do please put it on here.

Re: Found in my flower garden

My first thought was a napkin holder swell. Silver can be extremely ornate, this is a very standard and plain designed piece and I would not discredit it due to your thoughts in that area. Another option might be a cuff bracelet that has folded in due to the weight of the earth on it. Thanks for sharing.
