History
I obtianed this dresser 30 years ago as a gift. I had been painted. I stripped the paint off and found out that someone had stained it with a dark brown stain. Most of the stain came off when I refinished it but there is still a bit of dark stain residue in the wood grain.

Re: quarter sawn oak 2 over 2 dresser

Chests like this tend to date from the turn of the 19th Century and into the 1920's, it's in the Federal Revival style which was very popular during that period. Chests like this were mass produced by many furniture companies centered around Grand rapids Michigan, then the largest production center of furniture of this type. Demand peaked for furniture like this in the 1990's, values for it has declined considerably. At auction these days comparable pieces often sell for less than $100.00.
