Unique Rocking Baby Crib

By gratefulhead, 23 May, 2013
Description

I have a very unique baby crib with a strap metal style rocking mechanism, very simple. I have looked at hundreds of pictures from various sources and have seen nothing like it.

I suspect it to be early 1900's, no markings that I have seen. This is not miniature or doll furniture, has what I suspect is original mattress. I bought it at an estate sale where the previous owner was said to be a hoarder.

Anything you can tell me woill be appreciated, especially time period and possible origins.

Thank You!

Glen

Re: Unique Rocking Baby Crib

Most cradles like this one date from the first quarter of the 20th century, there is not a huge demand for them now because they don't pass modern safety standards. The bibiigest demand for them is among doll collectors, most like this sell for less thaqn $200.00 at auction these days.
