vintage rocking chair

By jennifer drake, 7 June, 2013
Description

I would like to find out the year it was made the company who made it and the value of it today. I have found no marking of any kind. I was told that it belonged to a lady who past away 15 years ago. She had it for 80 years and her grandmother who had it for several years before that gave it to her. It is in rough shape which i would like to fix but want to find out if it would increase or decrease the value first.

Re: vintage rocking chair

Based on your images this rocker dates from the 192-'s, but without any markings it 's unlikely you'll find out who made it. Like a lot of these pieces made during this period it's a mix of Art Deco with everything else. If the upholstery is good we'd retail one lioke this for about $300.00.

Re: vintage rocking chair

Depends entirely on the type of upholstery, which is why uphosltered furniture is so hard to sell. Most people want the material to match the existing decoration of the rest of the room they want to put it in. If what you use is not a currently fashionable color or what they are looking for the chairs value will not improve much at all.
