cast iron nozzle

By mmvfr3501, 15 May, 2013
Description

The item is a cast iron smooth bore nozzle and in two pieces. One screws into the other. It is 29 inches long together. Separate, the top is 23.5 inches, and the tip opening is 1 inch with a flared flat end that is 2.75 inches in diameter and the flare has two .25 inch holes 180 degrees apart. The outside diameter of the barrel is 1.5 inches near the tip and 2 inches near the threads. The threads are about .5 inches apart and run 6 inches up the barrel. The opening at the thread end is 1.5 inches. The bottom is 15.25 inches. The opening where the tip screws in is 2.25 inches. The opening at the bottom has a flare and is tapered. The flare opening is 3 inches with a .25 inch taper to 2.75 inches. then the depth of the opening is approximately 2 inches deep with a diameter of 2.75 inches at the bottom. The barrel then tapers quickly to a 2.16 inch opening. The bottom of the base has two loop/ears that are 1.375 by 1 by .5 inch thick with an oblong hole .6 by .34 inches. The barrel is smooth except for the flare at the base and a bulge/flare about 3/4 the way up. The only markings I can find is a cast marking that looks like a square .75 by .5 inches with 4 rows of small dimples in 6 columns. In the lower barrel the threads  are two rows of teeth 180 degrees apart. There are no threads in the area where it would attach to a hose.

History
Picked up in an antique store. Owner said it was some type of nozzle. I liked the look of it and it would fit in with my other brass playpipe nozzles. I would like to know exactly what it is, what year approximately, and how much it is worth.
