Hard to tell from your image, but your piece looks like it's made of what we used to call "Poor Man's Oak", called that because the oak grain is actually printed on the wood, the core wood usually maple or birch. Values for these pieces peaked in the 1980's and have been in decline since then. At auction comparable examples now often sell for about $100.00 at auction.
