Re: #5 Underwood typewriter

These are very interesting to look at, I recently came across a few in my travels and such.

Underwood typewriters were and are still very popular, and were made for writers even ones who traveled. Now if you're just looking for value here's the breakdown. These items are not neccesarily rare, they were mass produced esspecially after the industrial Revlution, and by 1939 they had produced over 5,000,000 (million) typewriters and continued to make Underwood labeled typewriters up to teh 1980s. A unused, out of box pre-1920's Underwood Calculator can go anywhere from 500-750.00 dollars. However, with items like this condition is everything. This typewriter is worth about 20-40.00, on a really really lucky day you may skate by at 60.00, but I do not think anyone would pay more than 25.0 for this item just because of the commonality of these and the condition of this piece. An example the following typewriter has a starting bid of only 25.00 (good condition and with the original shipping box!) with the option to "buy now" for 225.00- very dramtic difference, and it has been sitting online for awhile.

So in conclusion the item is worth 20- 40.00 per condition and non-rarity of the item. Hope this helps!

James Tyler Boyd
