1940's Hekman corner table w/ brass fixtures

By sherri durrell, 26 July, 2013
Description

This is a gorgeous corner table designed and manufactured in Grand Rapids, Michigan by the highly respected Hekman furniture company in the early 1940's. Their slogan was "Hekman - Tables of Merit" - and the slogan still holds up today with this gorgeous corner end table. Honestly - this table outshines any other piece of furniture in my home. It measures 30" x30' (the main part of the table top). The upper curved level measures 21" deep at the widest place and 9" deep at each end. The first level is 17 1/2" from the floor and the 2nd level adds an additional 9". It has the original brass lion head harware (decorative handles) and a classic sweeping mid century feel. This table is the real deal - before the danish and minimalist mid century furniture took a turn for tacky. That said I have no idea how much it's worth or the exact date on it

This company mass produced tables on a huge scale and was probably the largest maker of tables in the USA. What this means is values for them are very modest, at auction one like this would sell for less than $75.00.
