Description

Antique rolltop desk.  Has two bottom drawers, a cabinet, a large drawer and a pull out writing shelf.  Obviously there was originally a hutch, bookcase of something on top.

History Another auction find. It is a very interesting piece. Has skeleton keys. Ornate pulls but not sure if original. Originally had something on the top, be it a bookshelf, hutch, etc. It is a wonderful old desk. Would love to know the value of it and if someone has any suggestions on what to do with the top part where the missing piece was. Thank you so much.

This actaully what's called a cylinder desk rather than a roll top. It's in the eastlake style and dates from the late 1880's. Currently at auction a comparable desk would sell in the 300-500 range.
