- I have a vintage Dietzgen Dump Level number # 30474. It's dated back to 1942. It belonged to my Grandfather who was a civil engineer in the US Navy Seabee's. We are trying to determine if this is a military survey transit he may have used in WWII. The only other number on the transit is one which appears to have been etched (most likley by hand with a crude etcher). The number is 23435. Would you know if transits used in the military had goverment or branch of service insignia's? I don't want to sell it....I would like to know a little more about the transit since it belonged to my Grandfather. I am willing to pay for this information. Any assistance is appreciated.

Hi Robert!
