Swiss Pocket watch

Description

Its a swiss pocket watch that I inherited from my father and he got it from his father who got it from a ships captain.  See attached photos.  I would like to know the age and value and history of the watch.

"Acier garanti" means "guaranteed steel" which refers to the case, of course. I've never seen this before, and I guess it would have been something to boast about in the years soon after steel was "invented" which suggests that your watch was made in 1860 or soon thereafter.  There is a lot of these pocket watches out there.. yours has a very nice looking face, but the movement is plain, I have seen very nice engraved movements.  Does it work? ACIER GARANTI  4 MOONPHASE POCKET WATCH I seen one for $1.150.00 and some for $200.00.  most SOLD around the middle of the price range.  please "note" that I'm not an expert on watches. I love looking up stuff and finding the worth, and what they have sold for. the history and more..... Hope this helped.. good luck.
