Pair of Tung Woo Masthead Copper Lanterns

Profile picture for user coneil01

Description

I have a matching pair of Copper and brass Tung Woo Masthead lanterns.  I bought them on the Connecticut Shoreline in 1989 looking just as they are now.  They have sat in a box from then until now, never been cleaned or polished that I know of, except to wipe the soot off the glass.  The glass appears to be original blown glass with some tiny air bubbles in it.

Re: Pair of Tung Woo Masthead Copper Lanterns

My personal belief is these are reproductions, I've seen these often sell for about $50.00 each.

Any advice on how to tell if they are reproductions or genuine?

Re: Pair of Tung Woo Masthead Copper Lanterns

Update:  I have learned that these are the two lights required to indicate type of vessle.  Red and Green are more common as decorations, the white/clear ones like these are more popular to be used as actual lights in cottages and vacation homes.  These lamps here are in working order.
