Lane Hope chest

Description

Lane hope chest given to me by mother in law who says it was her great aunts. My mother inlaw is 60. I looked for the date on the bottom but all there is serial no G48-S. Any idea what this means? The chest has the original paper work stapled to the inside of the chest

The serial number on mine was hard to find, it was engraved into the bottom, I took a pencil and rubbed over markings to pull the number from it.

The serial #, read backwards, will tell you the month, day and year it was manufactured.  If it has 7 numbers, the last number indicates which plant it was made at.  Example

2235150  = 2 / 23 / 51 / 50  shows it was made on May 15, 1932 at plant #2.  This number is found on the outside bottom of the chest.  You will also find the model # on the bottom.
